Until now, we have no habits to audit and often get rid of trash. What is still to be done so that the apartment is not transformed into a temporary storage warehouse?

How to find what has long been time to throw

Imagine that you offer your own residential interior under the heading “Apartment of the week”. To do this, you have to send a shot of the project. So do it – flip all the rooms at least to your mobile camera. Now look at the result on a large monitor – this is how your apartment looks from the side. The photographs immediately reveal things that fit poorly into the interior, things that are out of place or have long been asked to be in the trash. Another bonus of photographing is that you immortalized your sentimental trash in the picture. Now it’s not so bad to throw a dozen souvenirs from a past trip: they clog up space, and you still haven’t noticed them anyway.

In addition to the photographic, you can apply the chronological principle of throwing. Get rid of everything that you haven’t used for more than one year: expired spices, half-empty perfume bottles, blisters with a couple of pills (there’s probably a complete first-aid kit), jars with the rest of the cream, which still won’t end. Boldly clear the space from stale things.

The third principle of the search for the unnecessary is spatial-volumetric. Initially determine the amount of things that you are ready to store. For example, children’s crafts and drawings, the first scribbles: select a container or box for them. When it is full, together with the child you will select the most interesting works, and discard the rest – free up space for storing new ones. Resist the temptation and do not buy large cabinets contrary to the advice of consultants in the store. Remember: their task is to sell you furniture and get your percentage. And yours is to learn to store things in the available volume and not to lead yourself into the temptation of a cabinet of increased capacity.
