Neither poor layout, nor low ceilings, nor load-bearing walls prevented the designer from squeezing the maximum out of this compact three-ruble note and transforming it into a comfortable and inconvenient apartment.
Work on the project began with a small redevelopment – the only wall that could be touched separated the living room from the corridor. “We moved the partition and thereby adjusted the shape of the living room – from an elongated corridor-type room, it turned into a square room,” says Pavel Gerasimov. –
The square meters won gave to the zone locker room for refinement – a new partition from the GKL separates it from the living room. “IKEA cabinets were placed here: on the one hand, for storing seasonal items, and on the other, a storage system for domestic needs appeared.”
Having completely freed the corridor from furniture and storage systems, the designer managed to make it very free. The same task – to visually expand the space of the apartment – meets the choice of palette and decoration materials.
In rooms, a warm-colored parquet board from Barlinek was laid on the floor – it was bought on the drain at Leroy Merlin. In the kitchen and in the corridor we used natural slate, varnished – it looks stylish.
The ceiling was leveled using drywall. In the hallway for its decoration they also used ordinary slats from a building hypermarket. They were painted the color of the board and fixed to the ceiling with glue.
For the walls, they chose wallpaper for painting – the light tone of the coating perfectly meets the requirements of the Scandinavian style and is perfect for a small apartment. “I highlighted the living room block with white paint – now it looks like an independent object in the interior,” says Pavel. “In this way, it turned out to turn a small three-ruble note with separate rooms into a single space in which there is a center – the heart of the house, the living room.”
In addition to the dressing area, which appeared on the border of the corridor and the living room, the apartment has other places for storing things. In Mom’s room, the built-in wardrobes under the ceiling are responsible for the storage; in the bedroom there is a spacious wardrobe from IKEA. For the kitchen, we chose a light standard-sized set, also from IKEA – it merged perfectly with the wall, looks like built-in furniture and does not clutter up the already small space.
The calm, typical for the Scandinavian interior, palette is the ideal solution for small size. And do not let light shades frighten you – you can always increase the degree of brightness with furniture, decor and prints.
